The Tree Shade
Which to his surprise was somewhat similar to his own family. Like Azat my own father died during the Holy Lands War. But my mother didn’t die until much later and put up a good fight to always find joy despite the pain of our surroundings. Azat expressed his condolences to me before taking another of his fish and asking me more questions.
“So, does that mean you have been alone all this time and if so, how have you survived this long?” I took another bite of my fish before answering Azat: “No, I have a girlfriend who is actually to be my wife after the war is over. I survived this far based on what my mother taught me and whatever I can’t do my wife steps in either to teach me or finishes the job herself.” Azat nods for a moment taking a moment to process everything I said. “I see, what is her name?” I took a sip of water before answering Cvet and explained howe it means flower in Cvet’s mother tongue. “So, what does Cvet look like?” I felt shocked his question but happy at the same time and I grinned as I spoke. “Her eyes are green meadows in springtime where fields are, her lips are the color of pomegranates, and her words are as sweet as honey, her skin looks like as if it’s been kissed by the sun, her hugs feel like I’m being embraced by an angel, but most beautiful thing about her is how passionate she is about anything she does. Her intellect is anything but dull and her ideas are so amazing it inspires me. Honestly to most my Cvet is average but to me, she is the most beautiful woman that has ever walked this planet.”
Azat seemed a bit taken aback by my answer and we sat in silence and after we finished cleaning and eating. We set up our beds and looking for the constellations in the sky then Azat asked me if Cvet since the war broke out. So, I pondered for a bit before getting my bag and shuffling through the letters in my trunk. “Well before I left, I promised to write her at least once a week so that’s how we kept in touch until I ended up here.” I added some more wood to the fire, and I sat by the fire with my blanket draped around my shoulders while I looked at the letters.
